Tarmow is located on the edge of the small region of Bellin, south of the Rhinluch. The state road L 16 runs past the western edge of the village; one kilometer to the west is the A 24.
In the year 1294, Tarmow was first mentioned as Terme in a document. It was in the possession of the bishops of Havelberg for almost three hundred years. Afterwards, it came under the administration of Fehrbellin. The historical town center is situated around the village street.
