5. februar 1905 - L.P. Zocher, landskabsarkitekt fra Haarlem, fik i forbindelse med adskillige oversvømmelser ved storme til opgave at anlægge et nyt anlæg i engelsk landskabsstil. Den vandafskærmende funktion af bymuren i anlægget blev forstærket ved at omlægge bygraven og hæve muren. Derfor skulle der mellem Galgenbolwerk og Cellesbroederport etableres et nyt anlæg.
På billedet strækker parken sig stadig helt til Buitenhaven.
