5. Februar 1905 - L.P. Zocher, Landschaftsarchitekt aus Haarlem, erhielt aufgrund diverser Überflutungen bei Stürmen den Auftrag, ein neues Areal im englischen Landschaftsstil anzulegen. Die wasserabweisende Funktion der Stadtmauer im Areal wurde durch die Verlegung des Stadtgrabens und die Erhöhung der Mauer verstärkt. Dadurch musste zwischen dem Galgenbolwerk und dem Cellesbroederpoort ein neues Areal geschaffen werden.
Auf dem Bild erstreckt sich der Park noch bis zum Außenhafen.
