February 5, 1905 - L.P. Zocher, a landscape architect from Haarlem, was tasked with creating a new park in the English landscape style due to various flooding during storms. The water-retaining function of the city wall in the Park was enhanced by redirecting the City Canal and raising the wall. As a result, a new park was to be created between the Galgenbolwerk and the Cellesbroederpoort.
In the image, the park extends all the way to the Outer Harbor.
