Die Steenstraat ist eine alte Straße durch einige westflämische Gemeinden. Der Weg stammt bereits aus der römischen Zeit. Der Weg war eine alte Verbindungsstraße (Diverticulum) zwischen Kassel in Nordfrankreich und Aardenburg im heutigen Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Der Weg könnte möglicherweise schon vor der römischen Zeit existiert haben und wurde von den Römern begradigt und befestigt, oder er wurde neu angelegt nach der Transgression des Meeres. Der befestigte Weg bestand über Jahrhunderte hinweg.
