Im Jahr 1820 wird der zweite Sohn von Karl X., der Herzog von Berry, von L.P. Louvel, einem Bonapartisten, ermordet, der das Ende der Bourbonen erwirken will. Der Herzog von Berry stirbt ohne Kinder, aber ein posthumer Sohn, der Herzog von Bordeaux, wird am 29. September desselben Jahres, dem Tag des Heiligen Michael, geboren. Ein Jahr später wird dieses von dem Vizegrafen Elie de Pons Saint-Maurice, dem Herren von Grignols, in Auftrag gegebene Denkmal zu Ehren dieses Kindes eingeweiht. Heinrich V. von Bourbon, Herzog von Bordeaux und Graf von Chambord, ist der legitime Anwärter auf den Thron von Frankreich.
