Thil ist ein Name, der vom lateinischen Wort für "Linde" abgeleitet ist. Das Leben in Thil reicht bis in die ersten Jahrhunderte zurück, denn der Überlieferung nach wurde die Südwand des Kirchenschiffs vom Heiligen Berchaire errichtet, der im 7. nachchristlichen Jahrhundert lebte. Eine frühe Kirche ist seit 660 belegt, doch die Südwand des Kirchenschiffs ist romanisch und der Rest stammt aus dem 16. Ab 845 besaß die von Saint Berchaire gegründete Abtei von Montier en Der hier Güter, das Lehen fiel jedoch unter die Herrschaft von Brienne. Die Kirche der Mariä Himmelfahrt stammt aus dem 12. Jahrhundert. Zu sehen sind u. a: - glasfenster - und ein Basrelief der Himmelfahrt Christi aus dem 16. Bevölkerung: 138 Einwohner (Quelle: INSEE-PSDC 1999) Fläche: 1942 Hektar Höhe: 185 Meter
