Thil è un nome che deriva dalla parola latina che indica il tiglio. La vita a Thil risale ai primi secoli e la tradizione vuole che la parete sud della navata della chiesa sia stata costruita da San Berchaire, vissuto nel VII secolo d.C.. Si ha testimonianza di una prima chiesa già nel 660 d.C., ma la parete sud della navata è romanica e il resto risale al XVI secolo. Nell'845, l'abbazia di Montier en Der, fondata da San Berchaire, possedeva delle proprietà qui, ma il feudo passò sotto Brienne. La Chiesa dell'Assunzione risale al XII/16/18° secolo.
