Thil is een naam die is afgeleid van het Latijnse woord voor lindeboom. Het leven in Thil gaat terug tot de vroege eeuwen en volgens de overlevering werd de zuidelijke muur van het kerkschip gebouwd door de heilige Berchaire, die leefde in de 7e eeuw na Christus. Er is bewijs van een vroege kerk in 660 na Christus, maar de zuidelijke muur van het schip is Romaans en de rest dateert uit de 16e eeuw. In 845 bezat de abdij van Montier en Der, gesticht door Saint Berchaire, hier eigendom, maar de vete kwam onder Brienne. De kerk van de Assumptie dateert uit de 12e/16e/18e eeuw. Het beschikt over - gebrandschilderde ramen - en een 16e-eeuws bas-reliëf van de Assumptie. Bevolking: 138 (Bron INSEE-PSDC 1999) Oppervlakte: 1942 hectare Hoogte: 185 meter
