Geschichte
Der Ursprung geht auf das 13. Jahrhundert zurück. Das Gebäude, wie wir es heute kennen, im Barockstil, stammt aus dem Jahr 1728 und wurde 1962 restauriert.
Die Burg, die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts im Besitz der belgischen Adelsfamilie d'Olimart war, kam durch die Heirat des preußischen Offiziers Georg-Alvin von Puttkammer (Familie 1811-1885 vorbei) in den Besitz von Julie d'Olimart. Später wohnten ihr Sohn Adolf (1847-1925) und im 20. Jahrhundert einer seiner Söhne, Gustav von Puttkamer, dort. Da er mit den Nazis kollaboriert hatte, zog er gegen Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges nach Wiesbaden. Er wurde von der luxemburgischen Justiz zur Persona non grata erklärt und sein Besitz in Luxemburg, einschließlich des Schlosses Bettendorf, wurde konfisziert.
