In June 2013, it was announced on the radio that the taste of the delicious Rochefort beer was threatened. Because a nearby quarry would dig deeper into the landscape, it was expected that the source used to make the Rochefort beer could dry out. And as everyone knows, the type of water that is used for beer is a more than important ingredient that determines the taste. In 2018, the Council of State issued the verdict that the lime extractor Lhoist had to keep off Rochefort's water. The multinational's pump license was revoked. This way the fathers of the Notre-Dame abbey can continue brewing in peace. And we can keep on enjoying the delicious Rochefort.
