Already in the 11th century, the landowners inhabited the then “Hof Ten Driesche”. In the 16th century, knight Evrard de Coutereau transformed the manor house into a true fortress with a gate and drawbridge. Since then, the castle has managed to preserve its appearance and was classified in 1978.
The castle has been in the hands of the van der Straten Waillet family since the early 20th century. The castle is inhabited and thus not freely accessible. Under the guidance of a guide, you can visit the castle park and the ‘Ronde Bouw’, an exceptional structure. The designated walk, Steenovenpad, takes you to this castle.
