The Sint-Franciscuskerk is a parish church in the municipality of Antwerp Merksem, located on the Bredabaan.This church was built in 1893-1896, at a time when Merksem was expanding and urbanizing enormously as a result of the expansion of the Antwerp port area in the direction of Merksem. Enlarging St. Bartholomew's Church did not bring sufficient relief and in 1890 a second parish was founded in Merksem. Because of the efforts of the then mayor Frans de l'Arbre, the church was dedicated to Saint Francis. The church was built to a design by Henri Blomme.
