The San Ponç reservoir was built between 1949 and 1957.
It is located in the middle valley of the Cardener River, in the Solsonés region, on the border with Bages, in the province of Lleida, Catalonia. It is part of the group of reservoirs of the Llobregat River basin.
The depression formed by the Cardener at the site of the hermitage of San Ponç has been used for the construction of the dam on top of structural platforms deeply carved by the watercourses. It is set in a beautiful landscape of pine forest with an excellent view to the north of the Cadí mountain range.
