This church was built outside the walls of Jerez in the 15th century. It was built on the site where a hermitage of the same name had already been built during the Reconquest, thus forming the seed of the now popular neighborhood of Santiago.
It is a Gothic building to which the top of the tower and the baroque belfry have been added, as well as the square "Capilla del Sagrario".
The church has three Gothic doors . The altar has a canopy by José Gallegos Arnosa from Jerez.
During the 21st century restoration , serious structural defects were discovered in the church, causing the church to be closed immediately. The church was reopened in 2016.
