The upper town on the left bank of the Ouvèze has its origins in the 13th century. In the Middle Ages, the inhabitants built their houses sheltered by the castle. They sought protection from invasions and plundering. It is truly rewarding to go up the cobbled streets to the ruins of the castle and the church at the top.
On the way back down, we now walk along the quay of Maréchal Foch, the paved road along this bank of the Ouvèze towards Malaucène. Then we follow the main road to Malaucène for about a kilometer until the crossroads of Crestet.
