In 1734, there was almost nothing left of the medieval "chastel" which had already been partially demolished in 1671 by order of Louis XIV. Jean-Antoine d'Eltz had a castle built, which later passed to his brother Philippe-Antoine and then to his nephew Philippe-Charles d'Hunolstein, who left it partly unoccupied. What remained of the castle after the fire that ravaged it in 1792 was demolished in 1810.
A large tower, a remnant of the medieval castle, is still visible today. The only remnant of the 18th century castle is the servitude building with ornamental window decoration.
