The Stone Table is a watermill in Borculo in the Dutch municipality of Berkelland. The mill consists of two parts: a corn and hulling mill on one bank and a former oil mill (later converted into a flour mill) on the other. Both mills are now home to a restaurant. The mill is located on "Het Eiland", on a branch of the Berkel.De mill dates from the 18th century and has had a number of predecessors. Traditionally, it belonged to the estates of the seigneury of Borculo. The municipality of Borculo became the owner of the entire mill complex and had it completely restored from 1966 to 1970. At the end of 2007, the restaurant owners bought the complex from the municipality of Berkelland. The mill on the right (seen in the direction of the stream) served as a flour mill until about 1875 and was then converted into a chicory factory. It burned down in 1880, only to be rebuilt the following year. The municipality of Borculo bought this mill in 1957. After the restoration, the building was leased to the Vlessert family, who established a restaurant in it. In 1994, the management of the restaurant was transferred to the current restaurateurs Raymond Prinsen (chef) and Gea Meppelink. From 1999 to 2011, the restaurant had a Michelinster. In the restaurant can be seen behind a fence the cogwheel that is driven by the water wheel. In December 2010 it was announced that the restaurant would close on April 1, 2011.
The Olliemölle
This mill is the smaller of the two and, as the name suggests, was built as an oil mill. In 1920 it was converted into a flour mill. In 1924 the municipality bought this mill; Since 1978, this part of the complex has also been used as a restaurant. In 2008, this bistro received a Bib Gourmand from Michelin.
