Inn de Wilde Hof

In the fifties, a contractor company was located in De Wilde Hof with owner Jannes Ipema. Declining income in the sixties forced the Ipema family to take a different path. It was decided to give shelter to students who came here for a week camping in Drenthe.

The tractors and threshing machines disappeared from the barn and tables and chairs replaced them. Jannes took care of the construction of several log cabins and his wife Jenny cooked the meals for the groups. Because the student groups only came in the summer, the Ipema family also decided to bake pancakes. Jenny went back to school and got her compulsory catering papers. In the meantime, Jannes converted the barn into a restaurant and together they took care of the interior.

The then pastor of Vledder, Mr. Speelman, came up with the name 'De Wilde Hof', derived from Jenny's maiden name: De Wilde. The Ipema family had a great love for Scandinavia and during their many trips to the far north, they brought all kinds of things for the further decoration of their restaurant.

Restaurant De Wilde Hof is known for its delicious pancakes and dishes for young and old. The pancakes are prepared with traditional flour according to an old and unchanged recipe. You can choose from a variety of pancakes from natural to farm boys. Want a different filling? Then you have the opportunity to put together your own pancake. Something for everybody. Our children's pancakes are available with the same filling as the large pancakes.

Don't feel like pancakes? Then you can also choose from our menu. For all meat, fish and vegetarian dishes we only serve fresh, seasonal products. Delicious and healthy. Specialty of the house is our shepherd's dish.
