This nature reserve changes from a plateau forest to a hillside forest that ends at the river Geul. Behind this are moist calcareous grasslands and everywhere there is
something special to experience. In the plateau forest is the Meertensgroeve, a former open marl quarry. The deep, sheltered crater is now a protected natural monument and a herd of goats grazes there.
Wild boars scavenge for food in the hillside forest. In the swampy calcareous grassland, the rarest plant and animal species are given the chance to survive.
Thanks to a beautiful boardwalk, visitors are right on top of a vulnerable piece of nature.
