The Pierre II (launched in 1992) is a screw-driven cross cable ferry that maintains a connection between two banks along a steel wire stretched over the water. The cable aims to prevent the ferry from drifting. The Pierre II is built as a free-floating ferry and could therefore also move very well without the cross cable.
The Pierre II is a 'back and forth'. That is a ferry that maintains a connection between two places located opposite each other on a waterway. In particular, a ferry where the 'front' and 'back' are the same, allowing traffic to enter on one side and exit on the other side.
