Bust of Alberto Cruz - Braga

The bust of Alberto Cruz, inaugurated on January 29, 1963 , was erected as a tribute to the famous Bracaran Alberto Cruz and placed in Largo da Senhora-A-Branca.

Alberto Cruz was born on January 25, 1890 and died on October 7, 1961. He was a doctor and surgeon from Braga, worked at the S. Marcos Hospital and was considered a great defender of the interests of the Minho region . He was also a politician during several parliamentary terms and member of the National Assembly for Braga.

The bronze bust , designed by the sculptor António Carlos Vila-Chã Esteves, represents Alberto Cruz standing on a rectangular granite plinth, with three inscriptions on the sides, on one side "* 25-1-1890" and on the other side "+ 7-10-1961", followed by the inscription "WHERE THE LOVE OF HUMANITY IS THERE IS THE LOVE OF THE ART OF HIPPOCRATES". The plinth rests on a rectangular granite base with the inscription "TO ALBERTO CRUZ MÉDICO E CIRURGIÃO INSIGNE BRACARENSE E VIGOROUS DEFENSOR DOS INTERESITOS DA REGION MINHOTA" on the front.
