Irrigation canal - Hellegorge

After the period of farming on the higher parts, they started building a canal to bring the water from the Barranco del Infierno to the lower parts.

From here the water flowed to the area of the current entrance to the Barranco del Infierno , north of the city, near the Old Mill.

Once the water flow from the Adeje River was diverted, it was used to supply the population itself , to irrigate the sugar cane fields, as a driving force for the sugar mill and the water mills used to manufacture gofio.

In Adeje there were four hydraulic mills : two on Calle de los Molinos, one in La Concepción and one in Hoya Grande.
