Situado en el norte del municipio de Zwijndrecht, al este del núcleo rural de Kallo, en la margen izquierda del Escalda. Originalmente se erigió una fortaleza aquí en 1584 por encargo del duque de Parma; construido por el comandante marqués de Roubaix. La fortaleza de Saint-Marie junto con la fortaleza de Saint-Philips en la margen derecha formaban parte del puente flotante sobre el Escalda. La fortaleza de Saint-Marie permaneció en pie después de la demolición del puente en 1585. En 1865 se construyó una nueva fortaleza en la cinturón de fortalezas alrededor de Amberes (ver Zwijndrecht). Desde 1961: base de la marina belga.
