Situato a nord del comune di Zwijndrecht, a est del nucleo del villaggio di Kallo, sulla riva sinistra del fiume Schelda. Inizialmente qui fu eretta una fortezza nel 1584 su incarico del duca di Parma; costruita dal condottiero marchese di Roubaix. La fortezza di Saint-Marie, insieme alla fortezza di Saint-Philips sulla riva destra, faceva parte del ponte flottante sullo Schelda. La fortezza di Saint-Marie rimase in piedi dopo la demolizione del ponte nel 1585. Nel 1865 fu costruita una nuova fortezza nel sistema di fortificazioni intorno ad Anversa (vedi Zwijndrecht). Dal 1961: base della marina belga.
