Situé au nord de la commune de Zwijndrecht, à l'est du noyau du village de Kallo, sur la rive gauche de l'Escaut. À l'origine, un fort a été construit ici en 1584 à la demande du duc de Parme ; construit par le maréchal de Roubaix. Le fort Saint-Marie faisait avec le fort Saint-Philippe sur la rive droite partie du pont flottant sur l'Escaut. Le fort Saint-Marie a continué d'exister après la démolition du pont en 1585. En 1865, un nouveau fort a été construit dans la ceinture de fortifications autour d'Anvers (voir Zwijndrecht). Depuis 1961 : base de la marine belge.
