Le tribunal faisait partie du district du tribunal de district de Siegen. En 1979, il a été transformé en une succursale du tribunal d'Olpe et a été définitivement fermé en 1986. Les fonctions sont depuis lors exercées par le tribunal d'Olpe.
De 1878 à 1940, le tribunal était logé dans l'Ancien Hôtel de Ville datant du 14ème siècle. Le bâtiment abrite aujourd'hui le musée du Südsauerland et est classé monument historique. Le dernier bâtiment du tribunal situé au Hohler Weg 1 est également protégé en tant que monument. Les deux constructions sont inscrites au registre des monuments historiques.
