Tegen het einde van de 11e eeuw werd er een college van kanunniken opgericht om de strengheid in de levenswijze van de heilig-emilionse religieuzen te herstellen. Er werd toen een klooster opgericht met een kloostergang en een romaanse kerk die de collegiale kerk zou worden. Gebouwd in de 12e eeuw, heeft het schip, evenals zijn portaal met een gesloopte toren, zijn romaanse stijl behouden. Het koor dateert uit de 14e eeuw en herbergt een geklasseerd orgel, het enige instrument dat in 1892 werd gebouwd door Gabriel Cavaillé-Coll, de zoon van de beroemde orgelmaker uit de 19e eeuw, Aristide Cavaillé-Coll.
