Het Casino op het gelijknamige Casinoplein werd opgericht in 1835/1836 door architect Louis Roelandt onder impuls van de Société d'Agriculture et de Botanique. Het werd gebouwd voor de Gentse Floraliën en werd daarvoor gebruikt tot in 1908. Daarna verhuisden de Floraliën naar het Feest- en Floraliënpaleis. Het Casino werd tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog gebruikt als militair hospitaal. Van 1935 tot 1945 werd de Veeartsenijschool (de voorganger van de faculteit Diergeneeskunde) er ondergebracht. In 1945 was het gebouw klaar voor de sloophamer.
