Se calcula que este monolito, de un metro de diámetro, tiene 45 millones de años. Según una leyenda que se remonta a 1124, fue arrojado desde los cielos como señal de fatalidad divina cuando los habitantes del pueblo no pagaron el diezmo debido a la abadía de Longeville-lès-Saint-Avold. ¿Un meteorito? La explicación más probable es que este monolito, único en la región, fue depositado aquí por los poderosos ríos que fluían desde los Vosgos cuando los mares retrocedieron en tiempos prehistóricos. Fue montado sobre un zócalo en 1965 y actualmente se encuentra a la derecha de la escalera de acceso a la iglesia.
