El 1620, els monjos caputxins d'Irlanda es van instal·lar a Charleville. El 12 de gener de 1625, l'arquebisbe de Reims va beneir i va consagrar l'edifici de l'església. El monestir original va ser probablement demolit al segle XVIII i reemplaçat per un segon monestir, la construcció del qual va començar el 1782. Durant la Revolució, el monestir es va convertir en presó . Aquesta funció continua sent la del monestir actualment.
