I 1620 bosatte kapucinerne fra Irland sig i Charleville. Den 12. januar 1625 velsignede og indviede ærkebiskoppen af Reims bygningen af kirken. Det oprindelige kloster blev sandsynligvis revet ned i det 18. århundrede og erstattet af et andet kloster, hvis byggeri begyndte i 1782. Under revolutionen blev klosteret til fængsel. Denne funktion er fortsat klosterets i dag.
