Diese neugotische Pfarrkirche (1871-1875) wurde in einer damals stark wachsenden Fischer-Community erbaut, als Ersatz für die frühgotische Kirche im Süden von Heist (Koudekerke). In der Kirche wird besonderes Augenmerk auf das (Seelen)heil der (ehemaligen) Fischer und ihrer Familien gelegt, sowie auf die Sammlung von Saint Antonius Abt-Figuren und -Relikten.
