Brasserie à vapeur has existed since 1785. Jean-Louis Dits, as a history teacher, had quite a bit of free time. In 1984, he took over the brewery. He wanted to turn this beautiful piece of industrial archaeology into a living museum as well. Every object has a history. This is certainly true for the 12 HP steam engine from 1895 that drives the equipment with which Jean-Louis brews artisanal, traditional, and natural beers. The assortment consists of 4 beers, each brewed with a secondary fermentation in the bottle and not pasteurized. La saison de Pipaix (6% alc.) is a traditional beer from 1785. It is slightly sour and very spicy. The Vapeur en Folie (8% alc.) is a strong, medium-hopped, and spicy blonde beer. La Vapeur Cochonne (9% alc.) is an amber beer with a delicate fruity nose, soft and round in the mouth. Festiv'ale, finally, is a Saison-white beer brewed with barley and wheat malt. It uses 5 Belgian hop varieties and a bit of rosemary. You can visit this authentic place on Sundays at 11:00 AM by reservation.
