This monument on the square between avenue Henri Paris and avenue Leray was inaugurated in 1960.
It consists of a quadrangular base on a step, signed by architect Marcel Tock , and a bronze bust, work by Stella Laurent. It is characterized by its great formal sobriety.
This bust is a tribute to Albert I, King of the Belgians from 1909 to 1934, during an eventful period for Belgium, including the turbulence of the First World War. Something alluded to on the bust is the king wearing his characteristic Adrian helmet .
A monument to his wife Elisabeth is nearby.
