The Church of San Miguel de Jerez is a beautiful temple built in the 15th to 18th centuries . It contains elements of the three major architectural styles of each era: Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque.
Inside there is a tabernacle chapel topped by an octagonal dome. Of note are the tabernacle, the Holy Crucifix of Health and the processional monstrance (A monstrance is a holder, usually of gold, in which the consecrated host is displayed).
The large main altarpiece on a five-sided apse and entirely in wood, was largely designed and executed between 1601 and 1649 by the prestigious image-maker Juan Martínez Montañés, later continued by José de Arce between 1641 and 1655.
