Via Dell'Acqua

The WATER WAY presents itself as a long itinerary that crosses a morphologically homogeneous territory included between the municipalities of Cellarengo, Ferrere, Valfenera, Villanova, Cantarana, and Tigliole. It is an area of clayey lands, scattered with natural ponds, which have represented essential food and economic resources for the community for centuries; particularly the prized variety of Golden Orfe, which has found its natural habitat in the shallow and warm waters of Poirino. Moreover, in recent years, thanks to its market success, numerous farms have been established. A particular feature of the territory is the presence of numerous artificial or semi-artificial basins, often adjacent to villages or farmhouses, created out of the necessity to collect rainwater for irrigation and for watering animals. Another important resource is the Gallina Bionda, an egg-laying breed known for its very tender and lean meat, from which processed products are also made, once very common in Piedmont. This is a product appreciated not only in Italy but also abroad. Of particular historical and cultural interest is the Church of San Lorenzo in Tigliole, pertaining to the first stage of the itinerary, which features a remarkable architecture of Romanesque origin and stands in a suggestive and panoramic position.
