The farm was not yet visible on an old map of Staats-Vlaanderen from 1745. It was visible on a map from 1856.
The Oud-Breskenspolder was dyked at the beginning of the sixteenth century. Farmhouses from that time have the front door exactly in the middle. Behind the front door, a long hallway runs all the way to the back. At the front of the house were the living room and bedrooms. At the back were the kitchen and the work space.
From the nineteenth century onwards, farming families lived on the farmstead in the Oud Breskenspolder. In addition to the farm, there was a bakery, potato cellar and barn . Arable farming has made way for the cultivation of sea vegetables.
't Hof Waterdunen is the home and workplace of the manager of Waterdunen. From the restored farm he oversees and maintains the nature reserve. It is also the support point for the Coastal Laboratory and the salt crops.
