The Chapel of Our Lady of Help is located under a rock massif overlooking the Ave River and has a peculiar architecture, with a square plan covered by a vault.
The interior is decorated with beautiful 18th-century tiles depicting the life of Christ and a rococo altarpiece.
It was built between 1599 and 1603 by Gaspar Manuel, possibly in fulfillment of a vow to Our Lady of Help, a sworn knight of the Order of Christ and captain on the routes to India, China and Japan, and his wife Bárbara Ferreira de Almeida, who are buried here.
From the platform that surrounds the temple you can enjoy an incomparable view over Vila do Conde.
