Questo monumento in onore del Generale Georges Smith Patton (1885-1945) è stato inaugurato nel 1957 nel luogo stesso in cui avrebbe motivato i suoi soldati diretti verso Bastogne durante la controffensiva delle Ardenne nel Dicembre 1944.
Morì a seguito di un incidente stradale a Heidelberg (Germania) il 21 Dicembre 1945. È sepolto nel cimitero di Hamm (Gran Ducato di Lussemburgo) tra gli uomini della 3ª Armata.
