Largo Dr. António de Magalhães es un agradable espacio bordeado de arbustos, ubicado en el centro de Ponte de Lima, cerca de Villa Belmira y conmemora al notable jurisconsulto y alcalde de Ponte de Lima António de Magalhães Barros de Araújo Queiroz, padre del concejal Antonio de Magalhães.
António de Magalhães nació en Ponte de Lima el 12 de febrero de 1838 y murió en Ponte de Lima el 19 de diciembre de 1888. Se comprometió con el progreso de Ponte de Lima y promovió la apertura de calles, carreteras y la construcción de escuelas. Entre sus iniciativas estuvo la fundación del “Asylo Dona Maria Pia”, una institución destinada a apoyar a los más desfavorecidos.
